Sutskever’s New AI Startup, Safe Superintelligence (SSI), is making headlines as it raises over $1 billion in fresh funding, targeting a valuation surpassing $30 billion. Leading the investment round is Greenoaks Capital Partners, which is reportedly committing $500 million, according to Bloomberg.
Safe Superintelligence has experienced rapid growth since its inception in June 2024, having previously raised $1 billion at a $5 billion valuation just months ago. The startup aims to develop AI models that surpass human intelligence while ensuring alignment with human interests, a mission that distinguishes it from other AI initiatives. Despite its soaring valuation, SSI has yet to reveal any specific technology or products, focusing instead on hiring and expansion efforts in its offices located in Silicon Valley and Tel Aviv.
Sutskever’s reputation as a leading figure in AI research has attracted significant investor interest, even as the company operates in stealth mode without any revenue generation to date. The ongoing fundraising reflects broader trends in the AI sector, where substantial investments continue despite emerging competition from international players.
